The Book Of Exodus tells the story of the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land. Sukkot commemorates the years spent wandering in the desert, living in makeshift dwellings.

At Catford a sukkah, a temporary building, is decorated with fruits. Services are held in the main synagogue and in the sukkah, often accompanied by a Kiddush meal.

Sukkot is intended to be a joyful festival that lets Jews live close to nature and know that God is taking care of them.
