The Friendship Club meets monthly, usually on the first Tuesday of the month. Each month we try to bring some form of entertainment to the Club as well as afternoon tea.
We celebrated Chanukah on 31 December with a community candle lighting with music provided by Max Rowlands. As was appropriate for a cold winter’s afternoon, our wonderful catering team provided pizza, latkes, veggie hot dogs and doughnuts for over 60 people.
In January we were pleased to welcome two guest speakers from St Christopher’s Hospice, Rev. Andrew Goodhead and Dr Shiran Futo from Israel. They covered the sensitive subject of palliative care and gave us an insight into the work inside the hospice and the support they give to clients living at home.
Our ‘Golden Oldie Karaoke’ afternoon in February was a great success and had us all singing along, with a few brave soloists who ‘Did It Their Way’. A meal of hot soup and pizza was provided by our fabulous catering team of Carole, Mitch, Helen, Pip, Wendy and Lesley.
